Quilt Auction Undergirds Ministry    -   Helps Make Sojourners Camp Possible

There were so many dimensions to the April 26, 2009, event:

  • a chorus of Board members urging frequent use of bidder cards by auction-goers, leading them in singing "Lift High the Cards"
  • reflections on being a staff member from Paul Adam, and on what Sojourners Camp means for at-risk youth from Board member Nancy Thorson
  • Rick Young’s engaging and humorous auctioneering
  • elegant and tasty hor d’oeuvres and beverages served by Dennis Christ and staff from Bridge Creek Backcountry Restaurant &Wine Bar
  • the artistry, time and work of so many in preparing items for both Live and Silent Auctions, and of many others who prepared the Billings Depot for the event.
  • The Live and Silent Auctions raised over $14,000 to support Christikon’s ongoing work. Near the auction’s end, a special "support-a-camper pledge auction" raised an additional $7,260 to help make possible the camp’s special Sojourners Camp for at-risk youth; and donors each received a quilted potholder made by area congregational quilters. Our sincere thanks to so many who sponsored the event, contributed quilts and other items, and worked to make it all possible.

Jeni Fleming and Friends Concert Delights the Ear and Supports the Camp

Jazz vocalist Jeni Fleming and friends performed for a fund-raising concert at Hope Lutheran Church in Bozeman on March 29, 2009. Despite a significant winter storm that day, well over a hundred people came out, providing over $3,000 in support for the Christikon ministry. Tasty desserts from The Daily Coffee Bar and jazz trumpet music kept concert-goers pleasantly occupied during intermission. Special thanks to the musicians, and to all who helped make the concert a success.
